![]() Maybe if I had spent more time thinking about it I would have figured out, maybe if I had listened to noises more closely I could have done it, but I just knew that was gonna probably mean I'm gonna spend hours more trying to work it out. Fish for example, don't exactly have a distinct sound they are famous for making, yet that is one of the animals. ![]() Also some of the symbols I had found, I had zero ideas as to what animal that noise could be. Also in terms of the sounds I heard, I thought one was an elephant, and another a pig, which after looking up the solution was completely wrong. I knew one was probably gonna be a beetle but again, several of the symbols could be a beetle-like creature. I knew one was a bird, but the illustrations are so abstract that several of them could have represented a bird. So match the noise to the abstract depictions of animals. Ok, so use the numbers to figure out which order you need to press the animals down in. Then I get into the prison and finally to the end with the stone puzzle and the animals. I find the school, figure out the symbols are numbers and I learn what each number is. So up to this point in the game, I had been making notes of the symbols and the accompanying noise they made, didn't really know why but I was sure it would come in handy later. Is there some hint I was missing? Secondly is the stone puzzle in the cave. How on earth are you supposed to know you should do that without stumbling on it by accident? Up to this point in the game, you're encouraged to leave doors, etc., open for easy access back (like the manhole cover right outside this door) so it seems natural that I would leave this door open and not even think to close it. Like the cave door, you need to close it behind you. So I want to know how many people actually beat this game without any help, cause certain puzzles I have no idea how I was supposed to beat them, or they just feel really unfair. Ok, so this is gonna be a lot of spoilers from here on out. So earlier this week I started playing Riven and for the most part am enjoying it, but oh boi the puzzles in this game. I played Myst for the first time last week, ended up really enjoying it, it's exactly the kind of mood I love and the puzzles were mostly fun, and the early-90s pre-rendered backgrounds still hold up.
